Structured Literacy & Dyslexia Support for Neurodivergent Children in Burlington & Hamilton

If your child is struggling to read — avoiding books, melting down over homework, or starting to believe “I’m just bad at this” — you are not alone.

At Bloom Therapy, we provide neurodivergent-affirming, structured literacy support that helps children with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, AuDHD, and other learning differences crack the reading code — without shame, tears, or “try harder” messages.

Tova Vertes is a trained Communicative Disorders Assistant/Occupational Therapist Assistant (CDA/OTA) professional working under the direct supervision of our regulated Speech-Language Pathologist (Rebecca Wong Kai Pun) and Occupational Therapist (Tanya Gabriele).

Tova combines Orton-Gillingham–based instruction with play, movement, and connection so reading starts to feel possible again.

WHAT LITERACY SUPPORT AT BLOOM LOOKS LIKE FOR YOUR FAMILY

  • Less homework battles, more confidence.
Your child builds real decoding, spelling, and comprehension skills — and begins to see themselves as capable again.

  • Reading instruction that actually fits your child’s brain.
We use structured, explicit teaching rooted in the science of reading — delivered through multisensory, movement-based learning that works with neurodivergent brains.

  • Sessions that feel like connection — not correction.
We move, we play, we build trust. Because when learning feels safe and engaging, progress follows naturally.

  • Support beyond the sessions.
You gain clarity about assessments, accommodations, and how to advocate for your child at school — so you’re not navigating it alone.

TOVA’S APPROACH

Tova is a certified Communicative Disorders Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant (CDA/OTA) working under the direct supervision of our SLP and OT professionals.

With over a decade of experience in pediatric rehabilitation, she has supported children with acquired brain injuries, complex neurological conditions, cognitive challenges, and assistive technology needs — giving her a deep understanding of how sensory, motor, and language-processing systems impact learning.

Today, Tova provides literacy intervention for neurodivergent learners and combines the proven structure of Orton-Gillingham with a play-based, child-centred approach.

Tova would love to support your child with:

💚 Dyslexia and reading disorders
Structured, systematic literacy instruction grounded in evidence-based approaches.

💚 ADHD, Autism & AuDHD learners
Multisensory, engaging sessions designed to support regulation, focus, and executive functioning.

💚 Spelling and written expression
Handwriting, written output, and support for getting ideas from brain to paper.

💚 Confidence rebuilding
Helping children who’ve internalized “I’m bad at reading” rediscover curiosity, capability, and joy.

Every session is designed to be achievable, engaging, and relationship-first. We build on what’s working — and gently expand from there.

As a parent of a neurodivergent child herself, Tova understands this journey both professionally and personally. She believes reading struggles are not about effort — they’re about instruction that hasn’t yet matched how a child’s brain learns best.

Instead of worksheets and drill-heavy sessions, Tova believes that learning happens through movement, games, and interactive activities that build both skills and dignity.

Common Questions from Families

  • Yes! Rebecca (SLP) and Tanya (OT) will observe Tova's sessions regularly, review all
documentation, and check in with your family periodically. They may also provide direct sessions at key points (assessments, re-evaluations, complex clinical decisions). You'll
continue to have access to them.

  • Always reach out! You can contact Tova directly for immediate questions during or after sessions. For clinical questions, treatment planning, or concerns, you can always contact Rebecca at bloom.speechlanguage@gmail.com, or reach out to Tanya. We want you to feel supported.

  • Absolutely. We respect your preferences. If you'd prefer to work exclusively with Rebecca (SLP) or Tanya (OT), just let us know. We'll do our best to accommodate, though it may affect scheduling availability.

  • Tova is a professional contractor (not a student) with her own training and certification as a CDA/OTA. While she works under supervision like a student might, she has completed her education and brings professional experience to your child's care.

  • Most insurance plans cover services provided by support personnel under the supervision of regulated professionals, but we recommend confirming with your insurance provider. Receipts will clearly indicate the supervising professional (Rebecca
    or Tanya) and regulatory college.

INDIVIDUAL LITERACY SESSIONS

Tova offers one-on-one literacy intervention and small group programming through:

Therapy on the Farm

At Blue Dot Acres in north-west Burlington, children learn in a natural, calming environment that supports nervous system regulation. Movement breaks, outdoor exploration, and hands-on learning make reading feel less overwhelming — and more integrated.

Tova also supports Bloom’s summer literacy camps, where kids build reading confidence while getting their hands muddy and discovering that learning can feel joyful.

Therapy at Home

Tova can support your child and family in the space you're most familiar with—your home!

Sessions in your home allow literacy strategies to integrate directly into your child’s real routines. This is especially helpful for children who feel safest in familiar environments.

Beyond the Sessions: Educational Navigation & Advocacy

Beyond literacy instruction, Tova supports families through her learning navigation practice, Phenomenal Kids.

If you are:

  • Staring at a psychoeducational assessment wondering what it all means

  • Preparing for an IPRC meeting

  • Trying to make your child’s IEP actually work in real life

Tova brings both professional expertise and lived parenting experience to help you advocate effectively and confidently.

You don’t have to decode the education system alone.

INVESTMENT IN YOUR CHILD'S COMMUNICATION & WELL-BEING

We believe meaningful reading progress takes time and consistency. Literacy support works best with families committed to 4-6+ months of consistent therapy (weekly or bi-weekly sessions).

Pricing:

💚 60-minute Session: $130

Sessions available at your home or at Blue Dot Acres Farm in Burlington.

Why This Investment Matters:

One-on-one, play-based support tailored to YOUR child's unique literacy needs—not a one-size-fits-all approach. Skills that work in real life, not just in a clinic. And a therapist who celebrates your child for who they are.

*For insurance purposes, receipts will clearly indicate the supervising professional (Rebecca or Tanya) and regulatory college.
