WHAT SPEECH THERAPY AT BLOOM LOOKS LIKE FOR YOUR FAMILY

  • Less frustration, more connection. Your child learns to communicate their needs, wants, and big feelings—reducing meltdowns and helping you truly understand them again.

  • Confidence in real-life situations. We practice communication skills at the farm, in nature, and through play—so your child can use them at home, school, and in the community (not just in a clinic).

  • Therapy they're excited about. When sessions feel like play, your child engages authentically. They build relationships, create memories, and develop skills without even realizing they're "working."

  • Safety and self-advocacy. Your child develops the tools to understand safety information and communicate when something feels wrong—a skill that lasts a lifetime.

  • Peer practice in small groups. Our "Communication Sprouts" program (optional) gives your child the chance to practice with peers in a safe, supportive, real-world setting.

REBECCA'S APPROACH

Rebecca has been a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist since 2011, giving her deep understanding of various communication challenges and strategies that help children make meaningful progress.

Rebecca is incredibly passionate about the benefits of speech-language therapy within nature. She believes in meeting your child where they are—whether that's in their words, their gestures, or their silences—and working together to unlock their fullest communication potential.

I Specialize In Supporting:

💚 Speech clarity: Helping your child be understood by everyone

💚 Early communication development: Building confidence in all forms of communication

💚 Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): Using gestures, facial expressions, picture boards, and symbol cards to support communication

💚 Social communication and language skills: Fostering skills that facilitate confident and happy relationships with others

Rebecca has seen firsthand how play fosters language and communication, and integrates this into therapy by facilitating child-led and co-created play experiences that empower children to express themselves in a natural, enjoyable way.

This play-based approach is especially effective within nature and experiencing the outdoors. Rebecca particularly enjoys working with neurodivergent kids, as well as hesitant or shy communicators.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY SESSIONS

Rebecca is available for one-on-one therapy either in your home or at Blue Dot Acres Farm.

Therapy on the Farm

Blue Dot Acres in north-west Burlington is the ideal environment to work on communication skills in a safe, natural environment that facilitates play-based therapy. Petting rabbits, exploring nature, and playing outdoors helps your child's nervous system regulate—making therapy more effective and enjoyable.

Therapy at Home

Rebecca can support your child and family in the space you're most familiar with—your home!

This is a safe and comforting way to incorporate communication strategies into your daily routines, in your own environment.

What Makes Our Approach Different:

Therapy sessions with Rebecca are play-based and driven by your child's interests, while also being adapted according to your child's unique needs. This means Rebecca doesn't come in with a rigid agenda, but meets your child where they are at on any given day and moment.

This flexibility not only helps your child feel happy and comfortable, but by honoring and empowering each child, leads to real success. Rebecca also prioritizes empowering you with parental support and coaching.
